Private Health Fund

If you have private health insurance and have paid for Extras Cover (ie. on top of hospital cover), you may be eligible to claim the full cost or part of the cost of your eyewear, prescription lenses and/ or contact lenses.

Depending on your level of coverage, your health funds may include optical extras, which can be applied to your eyewear, prescription lenses and/ or contact lenses.

If you are unsure, our friendly staff can provide a quote to assess your cover and if applicable, will advise on any possible out of pocket expenses.

In most cases, we have a NO GAP option—simply notify our staff and we can tailor an option that best suits your needs.

Private Health Fund (Overseas)

If you have a temporary visa, such as a working holiday visa or student visa, or do not have a valid medicare card but have private health insurance, you may be able to claim part of or the full cost of your optometry services.

Depending on your level of coverage, your health fund may cover:

  • Optometry consultations: This includes comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and treatments for conditions such as dry eye and myopia management.

You may also be eligible for optical extras, which can be applied to your eyewear, prescription lenses and/ or contact lenses.

If you are unsure, our friendly staff can provide a quote to assess your cover and if applicable, will advise on any possible out of pocket expenses.

Online and In-store Claims

Chapman-Davies Optometry makes it easy to claim your health fund benefits both online and in-store.

In-store: We offer on-the-spot claims through HICAPS, allowing you to process your claim immediately if your health fund is compatible with the system.

Online: After your consultation or purchase, we provide an itemised receipt that can be submitted directly to your insurer for reimbursement.

What You Need to Know

Check your policy: Contact your health fund to understand exactly what is covered and whether there are any limits on claims for optometry services or eyewear.

Private health insurance: If you have extras cover, it may specifically cover the cost of prescription glasses or contact lenses, which is separate from general health coverage.
