Changes to the external appearance of the eyes or surrounding area can be caused by a variety of issues, from mild irritation to more serious infections or structural problems. These changes are often visible to others — or simply feel different to you — and should be examined promptly to avoid progression.

Common symptoms include:

  • Swelling or puffiness around the eyes
  • Redness of the white of the eye or inner eyelids
  • Lumps, bumps, or visible growths on or around the eye
  • Drooping eyelids or changes in lid shape
  • Crusting along the lash line or discharge
  • Yellowing of the eyes
  • Uneven pupil size or eye misalignment

Our Role

Our optometrists assess both cosmetic and structural concerns with care and attention to detail. We look at how the eye is functioning as a whole — not just how it appears — and determine whether further medical treatment or referral is necessary. In many cases, early intervention helps reduce symptoms and preserve both comfort and confidence.
